Home Gyms and their variety of types

Most of us desire to commit to improved physical suitability, but some of us find it problematic getting to the fitness center. So here comes the idea of setting up a home gym. In my conception, a home gym is actually a dedicated space in the place of your residence which is reserved for your physical training exercises. You don't really need all the different types of exercise machines like bars, weight plates, and other heavy duty exercise equipment to call your place a home gym! What I think is these home gyms can be categorized in four basic types, depending on the exercise machines that have been installed in that particular area.

a.         Cardio Gyms

Exercise machine that are used to give cardio workouts are installed in these gyms. There are numerous types of these machines. They can be different types of exercise bikes, rowers, elliptical trainers, steppers, exercise bikes, vibration machines, and treadmills.

b.         Studio Gyms

These types of gyms are basically plain spaces for working out where you don't require any sort of exercise equipment. Not even a resistance training system is required in that place! That place is for performing exercises similar to aerobics and yoga. That place is also used for weightless workouts that you may follow along a DVD or TV show or following instructions from a book.

c.         Weightlifting Gyms

Frankly speaking, these are the types of gyms that most of the people think of when you tell them you have a home gym at your place! These gyms may be further divided into three types:

i.          Free-weight Gyms

Just a set of barbells or dumbbells is enough to make that type of Gym. These types of Gyms require different bodybuilding equipment like exercise benches, racks for the barbells and dumbbells, and squatting bars and their racks. They make your gym look more like a commercial fitness center.

ii.         Lever-based Gyms

These Gyms use weight plates and levers for resistance. They can be either single or multi-station type.

iii.        Machine-based Gyms

Just as the name says, these exercise equipment are totally machine based. These weight training systems employ pulleys of different sizes, rods, and cables and they can be either single or multi-station type.

d.         Hybrid Gyms

These are actually the combination of all the above types of Gyms. If you are a cross trainer, also known as a circuit trainer, you would definitely love to have a Hybrid Gym. They help you improve overall performance of your body as they offer you the benefits of all the types.

It often does become quite confusing for the newbies to figure out which type of Home Gym will cater all their exercising needs. You, too, may be finding difficulty in deciding one for you among the different types of Home Gyms. The fact, however, is that each and every type of gym has its own importance and all of them are essential component of a complete Home Gym.
